Chapter 12

“Where’s the Qeteran,” Rivnok demanded.

“We have secured him in the hold. He’s out of it for now. The guards roughed him up pretty good.”

“I want him brought to me as soon as he comes around. That son of a bitch is going to die slowly by my hands. How many of my guards did he kill?” Rivnok paced back and forth in front of the fireplace.

“Six, sir,” the guard answered.

Rivnok hurled the glass he was drinking out of into the wall. It shattered and sprayed the floor with tiny slivers of pointy glass. The dark brown liquid dripped down the wall leaving streaks that would stain the wood. His mood was not improving and it was all because of the Qeteran! He should have just killed the bastard out in the forest like he planned on doing. Why he gave the order to bring him back to his home was beyond him. Not to mention, the female was still out there! The men who had lost track of her paid dearly for their mistake. Their backsides would be sore for a long time, but they should be glad that was all he did to them. His decision to punish the guards rather than killing them stemmed from the fact it was getting harder and harder to get men to come to Pirx and work for him. His reputation as a ruthless drug lord was well known in the area. The next time he recruited guards, he would have to go farther out. Possibly, he could hire men from this planet Earth the female had spoken about. It would be interesting to see how the males of her planet fared on his planet.

Night was quickly falling and the female had still not appeared anywhere his men searched. She was better at hiding than her lover had been! Once he had picked up their trail in the forest, he knew exactly where they would go to hide. The small cave had been used by several of his victims over the course of his hunting days. The more intelligent ones put up more of a fight than the ones he considered just the average animal. He lived for the thrill of the hunt and enjoyed the final kill. Many of his games’ heads were hanging on the wall of his study. The Qeteran’s head would make an excellent addition to his collection! For now, he would have to keep the big beast alive until he found the female. He would be able to control him more if he had an incentive to behave.

As soon as morning came, he planned on sending out another squad to locate and bring her back. He would make sure she paid for her insubordination and he would make the Qeteran watch. Afterward, he would shoot the male and keep the female for himself until he grew tired of her.

Hours later as he was eating his dinner out on the deck, a guard rushed in to inform him his prisoner was awake and causing a ruckus.
